Hello Reader,
Today, I want to talk about what it means to experience growing pains.
So, you see recently I've been making bigger and bolder moves.โ
That's the reason I decided to be a sponsor for the Speaker Summit in July.โ
And as part of the sponsorship package you get to be interviewed on the podcast. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
โ
I was recently interviewed and the podcast and gap in my positioning was highlighted to me in the most high class way.
โ
Because all he said, "Was are you sure about that?" And with that I knew I could do better.
โ
Have you ever seen the movie Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger? He plays a male Kindergarten teacher.
โ
And as unlikely as that sounds, this was the realisation I had on the podcast, which "They think, I'm cute and not commercial". ๐ซฃ๐๐ซ
โ
Which in fairness, I can totally understand that because my current positioning has been more "cute" than "commercial". ๐ก๐ก๐ก
โ
Which brings me to another one of my says, which is "It matters how it looks".
What impression do they get?
โ
Well, I got the memo and decided to let everyone know. I'm not just cute!
โ
To reference Rita Ora, RIP to the girl you used to know, her days are over!
โ
Now, there's going to be more Sasha Fierce coming out, because that's who I really am beyond the cute. ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ค ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ค
โ
I've given my LinkedIn headline, URL and about a makeover and my website home page has received that upgrade too.
โ
Because, the work that I do is for diverse speakers at all levels and it's not just for beginners. That's where I started because I didn't have the words.
Yesterday, I shared this post: HEREโ
โ
Which shared what I've always been about and it's this: Helping diverse speakers to be visible and get paid properly at all levels.
Because closing your:
The gap between showing up as a revenue generating speaker. ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ
โ
That's what I'm about in one sentence.
โ
You may not know, but as a Career Coach, to senior leaders, I spent time helping my clients negotiate successful pay rises and promotions.
These are the same skills I use with for my clients in helping them structure their paid speaking products in their staircase and to do effective speaker booking deals.
โ
There is so much I can tell you about, how to hold your nerve.
How to not fear losing the deal on the table. ๐ฏ
โ
Yes, this is what professional speakers worry about, I have spoken to them and they have the same concerns too.
โ
Whether it's asking to be paid or negotiating a deal, you need to know how to play to the game effectively.
โ
Because, at the end of the day no matter where you're at in terms of your fees, you still face the same challenge which is every organisation is going to look to protect their budget. ๐ฏ
โ
Your job is to be effective and demonstrating why their investment will yield dividends. ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ
โ
And so yes, a new email is coming into the mix, it will be called "The Speaker Revenue Letter" and I'll be getting into what that looks like next week. ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ
โ
For now, stay tuned and check out The Paid Speaker Revenue Audit. This will help you close your Paid Speaker Venue Gap.
My final word is โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ:
Every day you can begin again. ๐ฏ
It takes courage to grow, so feel the fear and do it anyway!
Go shoot your shot!
Always remember:
โShowing up as a visible leader serves your people and it serves you too.
We rise together. ๐
Be Bold. Be Brave. Back Yourself and of Course be Your No.1 Cheerleader! ๐ฅฐโค๏ธ๐๐ฅฐโค๏ธ๐๐๐พ๐ค๐๐พ
Warm regards,
Ekua ๐๐พ ๐๐พ ๐ค
